My TedX Talk

Emily Fox-Million’s TEDx Talk, “Off the bench: a student-athlete's  perspective on coaching,” draws on her personal experiences as a former student-athlete to explore the profound impact coaches have on young athletes. Having encountered a range of coaching styles during her 13 years of playing three different sports, including an abusive coach in middle school, Emily shares her insights into the power of positive mentorship. She advocates for a shift toward holistic coaching, where the emotional and mental well-being of athletes is prioritized alongside their physical performance.

At the time of this TedX Talk, Emily was just 18 years old, a senior at Fort Collins High School and a passionate advocate for change, active in more than ten clubs, serving as student body president, and leading her school newspaper as editor-in-chief. With six state titles and one national title in journalism, she plans to continue using her voice to uplift others, guided by her mentor’s words: “Be a voice for the voiceless."
